Immunizations are an essential part of protecting your child’s health from devastating diseases. It is up to you as a parent to make sure you child is up to date on the immunizations that spare them from illness and injury. Many people are under the impression that immunizations are “just for kids,” but adults need to keep up on their own vaccinations as well
Vaccine-preventable diseases are at an all time low thanks to more people being vaccinated, saving lives and millions of dollars in health care costs, but this doesn't mean the diseases have disappeared. Many viruses and bacteria are still circulating. This is why it is important for everyone to receive all of the recommended immunizations on time.
Immunization services are offered at three clinics each month at the health center. Call the Health Center at 646-5506 to schedule your appointment. All Immunizations are administered according to recommendations of the Missouri Department of Health and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Any child under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We also offer Adult Immunizations on Tuesdays, between the hours of 8-12 and 1-4 p.m.
This is the schedule that the Livingston County Health Center follows for infant and child immunizations. If you would like a copy just stop by our office and pick one up.
The Livingston County Health Center utilizes the SHOWMEVAX Immunization Registry.ShowMeVax is a confidential, computerized system that collects immunization records and helps ensure correct and timely immunizations. The immunization information is available to authorized users, such as health care providers, child care facilities, and schools who work together to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases.
How ShowMeVax works
Health care providers record immunizations that they have given in ShowMeVax.
All of the immunizations given to an individual are entered into that person’s record.
When an individual visits a different clinic, that clinic can view the immunizations given anywhere in the state.
ShowMeVax provides an official immunization record for any program that requires proof of vaccination history.
Health care providers, schools, and child care facilities can search ShowMeVax to determine what vaccines an individual has received.
Health care provider participation in ShowMeVax is voluntary, so if an individual receives an immunization from a health care provider that does not use ShowMeVax, those immunizations will not be recorded in the application.
VACCINES FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM
Much of the vaccine we use for children is provided by the Vaccines for Children Program. The Vaccines for Children program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and provides free vaccines to children who qualify. The Vaccines for Children program is designed to help protect all children against vaccine-preventable diseases. Unfortunately, many children are not vaccinated because their parents either do not have health insurance or their health insurance does not cover vaccines.
Children are eligible to receive free vaccines before their 19th birthday who:
do not have health insurance;
are an American Indian or Alaskan Native; or
AUTHORIZATION TO IMMUNIZE
In order for us to immunize your child we must have a parents authorization. If you, as a parent, are unable to bring your child to the immunization clinic and would like someone else to bring your child, we still must have your signature on the authorization form in order to vaccinate your child. You may come to our office in advance and pick up or fill out the paperwork, or you may print out the "Child's Immunization Authorization" form below and send them back signed with the child and the responsible adult you have chosen to bring your child.
If you would like to delegate another responsible adult to be able to bring your child for immunizations, such as a grandparent, or an older sibling, please complete the "Delegation of Consent " and bring to our office:
